10x25 storage unit cost: the long-vehicle size

The 10x25 is 250 square feet and the bridge between residential storage and vehicle storage: a 3-bedroom home of contents, a class B camper van, a 22-foot boat on a trailer, or a long-bed pickup with room left over. This page no longer carries a national dollar band or a city price table, because neither was sourced. What it carries is what actually fits, and why at this size the binding constraint is usually availability rather than price.

A national monthly band, a ten-city price table and a per-square-foot figure came off this page. None had a source, and the basis they claimed was a sample of operator listing pages, which those operators' terms do not permit us to collect or republish. The vehicle-fit table stays: those are measurements against a 25 foot depth and a door opening, not prices.

What sets the price of a 10x25

A 10x25 is 250 square feet, at 8 feet of ceiling indoors and often 10 to 12 in a drive-up built for vehicle access, so roughly 2,000 to 3,000 cubic feet. It sits at the flat end of the price-per-square-foot curve. The steep part of that curve is at the small sizes, where each unit's fixed costs, its door, lock, light, aisle frontage and share of security and administration, are spread over very little floor. By the time you reach 250 square feet, those costs are thinly spread and the gain from going larger again is small. The practical consequence: choose between a 10x20 and a 10x25 on whether you need the extra 50 square feet, not on chasing a per-square-foot saving that is no longer there.

What does move the quote at this size is scarcity. Most facilities build a unit mix weighted heavily to the sizes people rent most, which are the small and mid ones, so a given site may have only a handful of 10x25s. When they are full, the site does not discount them, and it may pull promotions on the size entirely. In markets with strong RV and boat ownership, the same units are also competing against vehicle-storage demand that has nowhere smaller to go. Two facilities a few miles apart can therefore quote very differently for reasons that have nothing to do with the city they are in, which is exactly why a national city table for this size was never worth reading.

The one rent figure here you can check for free comes from an annual report rather than a listing page. Public Storage's Form 10-K, FY2025 (filed 12 February 2026, period ending 31 December 2025) reports realized annual rent of $22.54 per occupied square foot across its Same Store Facilities, against $22.43 a year earlier, at 92.0% average occupancy. It blends every unit size and market the company operates in. Large units sit below that blend, so multiplying it by 250 square feet overstates a 10x25, and by a margin nobody can quantify from public data.

Vehicle fit in a 10x25

The 10x25 is the smallest standard unit that consistently fits longer recreational vehicles. Door dimensions matter more at this size than floor area does: standard drive-up doors are 8.5 to 10 feet wide and 7 to 8 feet tall, and some facilities offer oversized doors at premium pricing. Always verify door specs before booking if your vehicle is taller than 7 feet or wider than 8 feet.

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes a free monthly producer price index for miniwarehouse and self-storage unit operators, series PCU531130531130, base December 2003 = 100, not seasonally adjusted. It is national and size-blind, so it says nothing about a 10x25 in particular, but it does tell you whether the industry is raising or cutting. At this size, ask about availability as well as price, because scarcity moves the quote more than geography does.

What can fit in a 10x25 storage unit?

A 10x25 holds the contents of a full 3-bedroom home or a 4-bedroom apartment. It also takes a single full-size pickup plus accessory storage, a class B camper van, or a boat on a trailer up to about 22 feet. It is the smallest standard unit that comfortably accommodates an RV or a larger boat, which is why vehicle-storage demand competes for it.

Is a 10x25 the right size for an RV?

For class B camper vans (Sprinter conversions, ProMaster builds, roughly 18 to 22 feet), yes. For class C motorhomes (typically 22 to 30 feet), it depends on length and door clearance. Class A motorhomes (typically 26 to 45 feet) need a 10x30 or a dedicated RV storage facility. Verify door height, since most are 7 to 8 feet and many RVs are over 10 feet tall, and door width before you book.

Should I get climate-controlled 10x25 for a classic car?

Yes, for any restored or collector vehicle. Climate control keeps interior leather, paint and rubber seals in stable condition, and it costs far less than putting right what condensation and temperature swings do over a winter. The premium varies with how much of a given building was constructed as climate space, so ask for both prices at the same site rather than assuming an uplift. For daily-driver storage, standard is fine.

Can I run a small business out of a 10x25?

Most facilities prohibit operating a business from the unit (no customer visits, no manufacturing, no employees), but storing inventory for an off-site business is allowed at all major chains. A 10x25 holds enough for a small e-commerce operation, roughly 300 to 500 SKUs of small-parcel goods on shelving, or a service business's tools and stock. Verify the operator's policy on commercial use before signing.

10x25 vs 10x20 plus 5x10, what saves more?

Almost always the single 10x25. Two units mean two administration charges, two lots of cover, two locks and two agreements, and the second unit is a small one, which is the most expensive space per square foot on the whole grid. The pair makes sense only when the items have genuinely different access requirements, for example a vehicle in a drive-up plus sensitive items in an indoor climate unit. Get all of it quoted on the month-two rate before deciding.
